Mum was born in Whitby in the summer of '42 and never quite forgot the sea. She raised three of us almost single-handed, and somehow always had room at the table for one more.

She taught us that kindness costs nothing and that proper tea takes time. She made the best Yorkshire puddings any of us have ever had.
